In September 2023, Ateric Translations delivered professional rapporteuring services at the Regional Conference on Customary Tenure Rights in Eastern Africa, held at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi from 17th to 19th September 2023.
The Regional Conference on Customary Tenure Rights in Eastern Africa was a high-level regional forum themed “Making Land Policy Reforms Work for Communal Land Rights in Eastern Africa”.
It was jointly organised by the Resource Conflict Institute (RECONCILE), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Welthungerhilfe (WHH), and other partners, including the International Land Coalition (ILC).
The three-day conference brought together over 100 participants, including government officials, community representatives, civil society organisations (CSOs), development partners, UN agencies, researchers, and pastoralist leaders from countries across Eastern Africa, such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, Somaliland, and Sudan.
Our experienced team excelled in professional rapporteuring services. We meticulously recorded presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and plenary debates. We focused on accuracy, neutrality, and clarity while synthesising complex topics, including land policy reforms to support communal tenure rights, pastoralist land issues, and regional collaboration.
Our rapporteuring process
- Live capture of all sessions in clear, concise notes
- Identification of key themes, recommendations, and resolutions
- Synthesis of diverse perspectives from participants across Eastern Africa
- Production of a polished final report suitable for stakeholders and donors
By delivering reliable rapporteuring, Ateric helped the conference organisers and participants preserve important outcomes. These records support ongoing efforts in land governance, secure tenure for communities, and sustainable development across the region.
This project highlights Ateric’s expertise not only in translation but also in specialised conference support services. Effective rapporteuring bridges communication gaps in multilingual and multicultural settings, allowing clients to focus on dialogue while we handle accurate documentation.
