Ateric Translations is expanding its network and invites qualified freelance translators and interpreters fluent in English and Swahili to collaborate on a wide range of projects—both virtual and in-person. We welcome applications from professionals across all locations, but we especially encourage linguists based in Kenya to apply, as many of our assignments require local availability. This opportunity is ideal for language experts seeking flexible freelance work across various industries, including legal, medical, NGO, technical, community, and conference settings.
Requirements:
• Fluency in English and Swahili (spoken and written)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in translation and/or interpretation
• Strong understanding of professional ethics, confidentiality, and quality standards
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• For interpreters: reliable internet connection and necessary remote tools (for virtual sessions)
• For translators: proficiency in standard file formats and ability to work with deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
• Academic or professional certification in translation, interpretation, or linguistics
• Familiarity with interpretation platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Interprefy) and/or CAT tools (Trados, MemoQ, etc.)
• Active LinkedIn and/or ProZ profile
• Flexibility to take on assignments at short notice
